Park entrance fees for Nyungwe forest national park are different according to the park activity you would like to do and the type of visitor you might be. You might be a foreign resident, foreign-non-resident, Rwandan or East  Community (EAC) national ( Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya) . Each category has its fees. Therefore each category of traveler is charged according to these features. Below are some of the charges that are levied on different travelers.

Chimpanzee trekking fee

Chimpanzee trekking fee is the charge levied on travelers in order to grant them access to Nyungwe Forest National Park to be able to trek and have a glimpse of the gentle primates that have been habituated to welcome human beings.

  • Foreign Non-residents pay: $90
  • Foreign Residents pay: $ 60
  • Rwandans pay: 5,000 Rwf
  • Nationals from the East Africa Community (EAC) pays: $10
  • East Africa Community (EAC) Foreign Residents pay: $60
  • Students who are Rwanda citizens pay: 2,500 Rwf
  • East Africa Community (EAC) students pay: $5
  • Students who are foreign residents pay: $30

Other Primates tracking fee

 The Nyungwe national park is a home of 13 primate species some of them are habituated includes Angolan black and white colobus monkey. All these other primates are equally loved by the travelers who like to travel and experience the thrill of primates species and therefore they pay a fee in order to be granted access to the Nyungwe forest for trekking these species. Below are some of the park entrance fees levied on the travelers for them to access the national park to trek other primates;

  • Foreign non-residents pay: $60
  • Foreign residents each pay: $40
  • Rwandan pays: 5000 Rwf
  • East Africa Community (EAC) nationals pays: $10/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) Foreign Residents pays: $40
  • Rwandan Citizen Students pays: Rwf 1,500
  • EAC Students pays: $3
  • Foreign Resident Students pays: 20$

 Nyungwe Guided nature walks fee

Nature Walks in Nyungwe Forest National park are one of the most interesting activities that see travelers stroll through the forest as the study different species that that are in the forest like primates, insects, birds, plants and much more. This activity is charged different charge park entrance fees like any other activity.  The various guided nature walks within the park are charged as follows;

  • Foreign non-resident pay: $40/person
  • Foreign-resident pay: $30/person
  • Rwanda residents pay: between Rwf 3,000
  • East Africa Community (EAC) nationals pay: $5/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) foreigner residents pay: $30/person
  • Rwandan students pay: Rwf 1,500/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) students pay: $3/person
  • Foreign Residents Students pay $20/person.

Nyungwe Bird Watching fee

Bird-watching safaris are another interesting activity in Nyungwe as the park holds over 300 bird species that attract different tourists to come and engage in the activity. It is also charged differently like any other activity and below are some of the bird watching park entrance fees.

  • For birding watching in Nyungwe
  • Foreign non-residents pay: $50/person
  • Foreign-resident pay: $40/person
  • Rwanda residents pay: Rwf 5000/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) nationals pay: $10/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) Resident foreigners pay: $40/person
  • Rwandan students pay: Rwf 2000/person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) students pay: $5/person
  • Foreign Residents Students pay $20/person.

Nyungwe Canopy Walk Fee

Nyungwe Canopy walk is the activity where travelers walk on a hanged ridge rope that is built up in the trees to enable them to have an overlook view of the canopy of the forest thicket. With this walk travelers are able to walk up in the trees about 1000 meters above the ground. Below are some of the park entrance fees for those that would like to do the canopy walk.

  • Foreign non-residents pay: $60/per person
  • Foreign-resident pays: $50/per person
  • Rwanda residents pay: Rwf 5000/per person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) nationals pay: $10/per person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) foreign resident pays: $50/per person
  • Rwandan students pay: Rwf 5000/per person
  • East Africa Community (EAC) students pay: $5/person
  • Foreign Residents Students pay $25/per person.

Tropical waterfall guided hike fee

A tropical waterfall guided hike is another interesting activity that catches the eyes of travelers. Below are the charges that are levied on travelers. The waterfall hike starts from Gisakura and it takes about 3-5 hours and is so fascinating to travelers as they view the magnificent falls.

  • Foreign non-residents pay: $50/per person
  • Foreign-resident pays: $40/per person
  • Rwanda residents pay: Rwf 5000/per person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) nationals pay: $10/per person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) foreign resident pays: $40/per person
  • Rwandan students pay: Rwf 2000/per person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) students pay: $5/person
  • Foreign Residents Students pay $20/per person.

Congo-Nile divide guided hike fee

  • Foreign non-residents pay: $100/per person
  • Foreign-resident pays: $70/per person
  • Rwanda residents pay: Rwf 10,000/person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) nationals pay: $20/per person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) foreign residents pay: $70/per person
  • Rwandan students pay: Rwf 5000/per person
  • East Africa Community (E.A.C) students pay: $10/per person
  • Foreign Residents Students pay $35/per person.

Camping fees

Other travelers decide to come into the forest and camp so that they can bond with nature and enjoy the freshness of the tropical rainforest.

  • With your tent: $30/night
  • Without tent: $40/tent/night

Commercial filming fee

For the adventurous travelers who decided to come to the forest and sale the African tropics to the world, they are offered a chance to do their filming coverage at a cost  and below are the park entrance fees charged on them;

  • Commercial filming fee: $1000/group/per day for chimpanzees
  • Commercial filming fee: $600/group/per day for other park products.

Important note:

  • Primates tracking is not allowed for children under 16 years.
  • Children of less than 7 years of age do not pay.
  • Graduate students are excluded from student’s category, they pay normal fees.
