DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our professional guide will warmly welcome you to Rwanda. After a brief orientation, embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of the country. As you journey through the picturesque Rwandan countryside, soak in the breathtaking views and keep an eye out for any bird sightings along the way. Arrive at your lodge in Akagera National Park, settle in, and prepare for an exciting birding adventure in the park.

Rise early and enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting off for a full day of birding in Akagera National Park. This diverse park is a haven for bird enthusiasts, with over 500 bird species recorded within its boundaries. Explore the varied habitats, including savannahs, wetlands, and lakeshores, which provide excellent opportunities to spot a wide variety of birdlife.

From waterbirds like the majestic shoebill stork to raptors soaring above the grasslands, there is always something fascinating to observe. Your experienced birding guide will share their knowledge and help you identify the different species you encounter. After an exhilarating day of birding, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest and delicious dinner.

DAY 3 :Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After a fulfilling breakfast, bid farewell to Akagera National Park and embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the southwestern part of Rwanda. As you travel through the countryside, marvel at the stunning landscapes and immerse yourself in the beauty of Rwanda’s “land of a thousand hills.”

Nyungwe Forest National Park is a true gem for bird lovers, boasting over 300 bird species, including several Albertine Rift endemics. Upon arrival at Nyungwe Forest, check into your lodge and relax amidst the serene surroundings of the forest.

DAY 4 :Birding in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring the birding wonders of Nyungwe Forest National Park. Known as an Important Bird Area, the park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. With over 310 bird species, including 27 Albertine Rift endemics, Nyungwe Forest offers a remarkable birding experience.

Follow your experienced birding guide as you venture deep into the forest, listening to the melodic calls and observing the colorful plumage of various bird species. Keep an eye out for the impressive Rwenzori Turacos, the elusive Grauer’s Rush Warbler, the enchanting Red-throated Alethe, and the vibrant Purple-breasted and Blue-headed Sunbirds, among many others.

DAY 5 :Canopy Walk and Additional Birding in Nyungwe Forest

DAY 6 : Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, bid farewell to Nyungwe Forest and embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park in the northern part of Rwanda. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, offering breathtaking views of the rolling hills and rural landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, preparing for the exciting birding experiences in the coming days.

Today, venture into the misty jungles of Volcanoes National Park in search of unique bird species. DAY 8: Transfer to Kigali and departure

After breakfast at the lodge we will start as we transfer to Kigali city. Upon arrival in the city, you will take a short city tour and visit the genocide memorial sites and the traditional markets with in Kigali, craft shops and so on. Later you will be transferred to the Airport to take your flight back home.
